Reflections on Teaching Interviewing and Counseling at Villanova Law
When I was offered the opportunity to teach Interviewing and Counseling at Villanova University Charles Widger School of Law, I didn’t hesitate. Villanova holds a special place in my heart, and returning as an instructor felt both exciting and meaningful.
What I didn’t expect was the profound impact my students would have on me. This exceptional group of 2Ls and 3Ls brought diverse perspectives, enthusiasm, and a genuine eagerness to learn. From the start, they embraced the challenges of this practice-oriented course—often pushing themselves beyond their comfort zones in order to grow.
Throughout the semester, they demonstrated resilience, dedication, and a willingness to be vulnerable in service of their professional development. Their hard work paid off. By the final weeks of class, I saw remarkable progress—not only in their skills, but also in their confidence.It was a privilege to guide them on this journey, and I am immensely proud to call them my students.
